NRT Saddlery — short for Norman's Ranch & Tack — started the way the best Montana businesses do: with a horseman who needed good gear and decided to sell it himself. In 1954, our great-grandfather opened the doors in Lewistown MT and later moved the store here in Havre, and for the better part of fifty years this was where ranchers, ropers, and weekend riders came for saddles and tack they could count on.

Then, like a lot of main-street outfits, we got squeezed when a big-box store rolled into town in the early 2000s, and we stepped back. But we never stopped being horse people — and we kept hearing the same thing from folks across the Hi-Line: there's nowhere left to get real tack from people who actually ride.

So in the summer of 2025, we brought NRT back.

Today we carry new and used saddles — western, barrel, trail, pleasure, roping, Wade tree and more — along with tack, bits, reins, breast collars, spurs, stirrups, ropes, brushes, therapeutic boots, and the everyday horse care that keeps your string sound. If we'd put it on our own horses, we'll sell it to you. If we wouldn't, we won't carry it.

What hasn't changed in four generations is how we do business. We know the difference a properly fitted saddle makes to a horse's back and a long day's work, and we'll talk you through tree fit, rigging, and seat size like it matters — because it does.
